Why PassGen exists

Replacing complexity with a single clear purpose

Many password utilities bundle vault features, account systems, and extras that most people never asked for. PassGen was started on the opposite idea: a generator that does exactly what its name says, without the clutter that makes simple tasks feel harder than they should be. The project began from a practical frustration with tools that asked for too much before producing a single password.

So the focus stayed narrow. Choose the length and character options you need, generate, and move on. Every decision in the interface is meant to reduce friction rather than add to it.

How we build

Three principles behind every update

Development follows a short list of commitments that guide what gets built and what gets left out.

Clarity

Plain options

Settings are labeled in everyday language so you know what each choice changes before you generate anything.

Predictability

Dependable behavior

The generator behaves the same way every time you use it, so results and options never surprise you.

Restraint

Minimal friction

New features are weighed against a single question: does this help generate a password more simply? If not, it waits.
